“Windsurfing”

Day 36 of 366 Day Project

“Magic is everywhere, explore & be amazed everyday!”

“I windsurf because my body needs, my mind deserves. And my soul is grateful.” ~ Fernando Portella

“We cannot control the wind, but we can direct the sail.”

Today I stopped to watch some wind surfers and was amazed to see how quickly they moved across the sea.  They zigzagged back and forth, sliding, hopping and sometimes jumping and twisting in the air, truly it is a mastered craft in itself. It made me think about why people windsurf and what is it that draws them out there on the wild windy days.  Those that windsurf believe it’s not just a sport…it is a lifestyle. I heard it’s a hard sport to learn but the windsurfers sure do have the tenacity, courage, and mental strength to push through and master the sport. They admit to conquering physical pain and mental fear…but still they love it.

Below are some reasons why people windsurf:

“I windsurf because the sea sets me free.” Peter H T Dobinson

“I windsurf because it gives me a limitless amount of different experiences that make me happy,” Michel Claasens

“I windsurf because wild water and strong winds calm the turmoil inside, ripples fade and I feel quiet, just content. Absence of distracting associations and stories, as all attention must go to (keep) sailing. I become a happy antenna of physical sensations.” Lucas Kunneman

“I windsurf because I like to fly across the sea and become one with two of the elements of nature! It’s freedom!” Di Pagoni Originale

“Take time to do the things that REALLY make you HAPPY.”

So what sets you free and makes you happy?
