Ready for CoastTrek

Ready for CoastTrek

ON A MISSION: L-R Helga Dalla, Gee Fletcher, Jodie Burridge and Deb Lawrence HELGA Dalla and her team “Are You Activated?” are no strangers to getting active for a good cause. In just a few weeks, the women will be trekking 30 kilometres in the CoastTrek racing funds for the Fred Hollows Foundation. The Buddina photojournalist said the women came together after utilising the same product which also prompted their team name. “We’re all using a product that’s an ‘activator’ which means it kick starts your cells,” she said. “Both Jodie and I have arthritis and it’s been the catalyst to get our heath back on track.” So to celebrate their new found health, the women have decided that they will raise awareness by keep moving. “I’m all about raising funds and awareness for anything to do with health,” she said. “Back in 2005, I rode a mountain bike from Cairns to the tip of Australia for the Fred Hollows Foundation.” Ms Dalla said so far their training regime isn’t gruelling but they’ve been doing a weekly walk and encouraging other local women to join them. “We’re all doing what we can to fit in training,” she said. “It’s a really good thing to do and in a supportive environment and it’s such a good cause.” So far the team have raised more than $400 for the foundation, but hope they can dramatically increase this figure by the time the event rolls around – on 6 July 2017 – Purchase Tickets HERE. Be Her Freedom

BE HERS Was founded by a group of girlfriends who were horrified upon hearing of the size and scope of modern day slavery, and felt compelled to do more. On Saturday the 3rd August at the 2nd Be Her Freedom Sunshine Coast event we had many women turn up to show their support for this cause, to do what they could to abolish human trafficking in their lifetime. Guests were entertained by Ellen Reed, Renee Bazley (Dance Piece), Silk Acrobat Kayleigh from Absolute Aerials, at the event organised by Katie Thompson and the amazing team of volunteers. Today we are honoured to have a movement of thousands of passionate, every day women – all determined to raise funds and awareness for the freedom of men, women and children held in sexual slavery across the globe. Through our fundraising with Be Hers, we continue to be amazed at the generosity of those across our community, our nation and beyond. Together we continue to raise much needed funds and  awareness regarding the issue of human trafficking and the need for this to be brought to the forefront of the world’s attention. While we may not be able to save all 27 million held in captivity today, we are determined to not ignore the cry of the ONE and do all we can to bring her freedom. Be Hers stands to empower women to realise their worth so they may fight for those who can’t. Be Inspired. Be Empowered. Fight for Freedom.   Be Her Freedom is an event run by the organisation, Be Hers that aims to raise awareness and funds for those trapped in sexual slavery. They partner with The A21 Campaign to see freedom, hope and justice...
Day 143-149, 366 Day Project

Day 143-149, 366 Day Project

366 Day Project   “Magic is everywhere, explore & be amazed everyday!”   “Noosa” Day 143 (22 May 2016) Visiting Noosa Heads with friends today, we took a detour down Claude Batten Drive to show our visitors the beautiful Noosa Spit Reserve. I took this image standing on the end of the path looking over ocean. I love the simplicity of this shot with the three guys playing in the waters edge. If you haven’t been to Noosa Spit Reserve I highly recommend, it’s a beautiful spot for a picnic and swim.   “Travis”  Day 144 (23 May 2016) Meet Travis, how cool is he? Travis is a Dogman creation by the very talented couple Sydney-based contemporary artists Gillie and Marc the husband and wife team. Gillie and Marc first met in Hong Kong. She was a nurse from England and he was a boy from the ‘burbs’ of Melbourne. Instantly they realised they’d found their soulmate, someone to start a journey encompassing their mutual love for art and adventure. Seven days later they were married in the foothills of Mount Everest. They not only share an unsurpassed dedication to their art but also love for their two children, whom Gillie describes as their ‘best friends’ — along with their fur baby, Indie, or course. Gillie and Marc’s iconic characters, Rabbitgirl and Dogman, tell their own spectacular love story while celebrating the powerful spiritual relationship that can exist between man and animal. The artists paint, sculpt and photograph with the goal to create joyful, thought-provoking and interactive works that celebrate unlikely unions while inspiring us to re-examine the status...

Day 136-142, 366 Day Project

366 Day Project “Magic is everywhere, explore & be amazed everyday!”   “Waiting” Day 136 (15 May 2016)  For those of you following my project you’ll notice that my favorite fur friend and companion is none other than Miss Kodie Dalla. We rescued her in May last year and she’s become our big baby. She’s regularly featured throughout my project. You can see more of Kodie in the following Days photos: 110 (Kodie), 89 (Companion), 81 (Kodie), 75 (Kodie), 54 (Best Friends), 50 ‘The Journey’, 48 ‘shadows’ 30 ‘Kodie’ 17 ‘Hubby & Dog’. “Good things come to those who wait.” I just had to add this image because it’s what I see so often… cute little pleading eyes looking up at me. She sits on her side of this line; just outside the perimeter of the kitchen zone she knows all too well and waits patiently for her diner. Kodie is the first dog I’ve owned that is so food focused that almost nothing else matters…oh except walk, play times and hugs. “Eternity” Day 137 (16 May 2016) Writing or drawings that have been scribbled, scratched, or painted illicitly on a wall or other surface, often within public view. Arthur Malcolm Stace (9 February 1885 – 30 July 1967), otherwise known as Mr Eternity, was an Australian eccentric and soldier, a reformed alcoholic who converted to Christianity and spread his message by writing the word “Eternity” in copperplate writing with chalk on footpaths in and around Sydney, from Martin Place to Parramatta for about 35 years, from 1932 to 1967. Stace walked the streets of Sydney at night writing...
