“Cockle Shell

Day 79 of 366 Day Project

“Magic is everywhere, explore & be amazed everyday!”

I found this little beauty on my walk this afternoon… a White Cockle shell. Cockle shells belong to the large famous family of shells know as the Cardiidae.

They are unique with lots of bumps and ridges lined up in rows or “ribs” that drastically curve in under themselves at the bottoms merging into a single point.

Living in sandy sheltered beaches throughout the world, they have a distinctive rounded shell which when pieced together and viewed on end resemble a heart shape.

A common species in waters throughout the Indo Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans and perfect for shell crafting or adding finishing touches to any Beach Wedding.

“Seashells remind us that every passing life leaves something beautiful behind.”
