Day 14 of 366 Day Project – “Magic is everywhere, explore & be amazed everyday!”

GROOVY GRANNY: I have no qualms confessing to be a super proud grandmother aka Nana Dalla. My grandmothers were Nana and Grossmutti (Austrian).   For me, becoming a grandmother was surreal, a precious and life changing moment. I remember vividly the first time I held my first-born granddaughter Lucia. Today I have five precious granddaughters (Lucia, Amelia, Olivia, Arya & Isabella) and a grandson (Hugo)…grinning ear to ear.

So when I saw this cool vehicle decked out with childlike colourful hand painted drawings all over it and ‘groovy granny’ on the drivers door – it was a hit for todays photo, Magic!

To Be A Trendy Or Unique Grandparent!

These days we have such diversity in grandparent’s names. I’ve come to the conclusion it is because grandparents just want to be unique or trendy! Families seem to be ditching traditional grandparents names in order to find something unique and trendy to identify the special grandparent that they are.

Some grandparents feel traditional names sound ‘too old’ and they don’t want to sound like a stereotypical grandparent who leads a quiet life. They still want to sound young, active and fun. There are still many who embrace the traditional ‘Nana’ but it seems these days, Nana’s are making a stand and deciding their own names, with a creative edge!

Becoming a grandmother is wonderful. One moment you’re just a mother. The next you are all wise and prehistoric” ~ Pam Brown

“When a child is born, so are grandmothers” ~ Judith Levy

“Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children” ~ Alex Haley
