“Learning to Drive”

Day 101 of 366 Day Project

“Magic is everywhere, explore & be amazed everyday!”

Todays photo is my 3 ½ year old grand daughter Arya, intently focusing on steering. She’s having a lesson in steering the 4-wheel drive with close guidance of her dad.

We were out visiting a friend on his farm and whenever the opportunity arose and it was safe to do so Stephen (their dad)  gave the girls an opportunity to have a little drive…well steer the car.

Having grown up on a farm myself I know how these opportunities gives more confidence when the day comes to get your license.

I remember helping feed the livestock with my brother Karl and we used to drive the old tractor around the paddocks. I’m talking automatic transmissions here – we learnt to drive that stick and mastered it at a very young age.

“Learn to drive?” “Never,” said Quentin. “My mission in life is to be a passenger.” ~ Diana Wynne Jones, Archer’s Goon

We also had our motorbike track marked out which was a favourite afterschool and weekend activity. We’d time ourselves and try and beat the others time. I’m this helped when it came to passing our driving test for out learners and P plates.

“Leave sooner, drive slower, live longer.”

I’d love to hear about your learning to drive experience. Share your experience in the comments.
