“If you surrender to the wind, you can ride it.” ~Toni Morrison

Imagine gliding through the air high above a picturesque landscape below. Soar across the sky hang gliding, floating over thermal winds enjoying a gliding adventure. Sound magical?

“I take the paraglider to the mountain and I pick the prettiest part of the sky and I melt into the wing and then into the air, till I’m just soul on a sunbeam.” ~ Richard Bach

A few years ago I braved the elements and experienced a tandem hang-glide at Stanwell Park, NSW through a mob called Red Ballloon. I recall the surreal feeling of freedom, gliding along in the winds natural current. During our flight I looked down upon the sparkling coastline and stunning natural environment. I could even spot marine-life while quietly cruising in the sky above. Such a different way to see the world! At the end of the flight my pilot ramped up the excitement with some exciting turns and acceleration of speed!   They say that landing is possibly the most exhilarating part of the hang-gliding journey, however I found taking off more of an adrenalin rush, as we had to run off the edge of a cliff to take flight.  Yeeeeek!!  But I did it and loved it.  Life is way to precious to play it safe so just get out and go for it.

What is an Hang Gliding?

It’s an air sport in which a pilot flies a light, non-motorized foot-launch aerospace craft called a hang glider. Most modern hang gliders are made of an aluminium alloy or composite frame covered with synthetic sailcloth[1] to form a wing. The pilot is ensconced in a harness suspended from the airframe, and exercises control by shifting body weight in opposition to a control frame.

“You haven’t seen a tree until you’ve seen its shadow from the sky.” ~ Amelia Earhart

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.” ~ Helen Keller

What’s one of the most exhilarating adventures you have experienced?
