Day 11 of 366 Day Project – “Magic is everywhere, explore & be amazed everyday!”

ME: I asked myself this morning, “What magic will find today to share with you for the eleventh day of my 366 Day Project? AND what is it that excites me about taking photos and why do this project at all?

For me, 2015 was a year full of self-discovery, learning and letting go of beliefs that no longer serve me. This is work in progress but I’m content knowing I’m on the right path. The game changer and light bulb moments for me were in Bali at a three day ‘Life As An Art Form’ workshop with the amazing Jesh De Rox. Jesh is one of life’s gifted treasures that you cannot walk away from without being touched by his imagery, insight, passion, and soul.

‘Life As An Art Form’ wasn’t anything like I had envisaged. In fact, it wasn’t about photography at all, but was about me, growing as a person, as an artist and being authentic. I was feeling lost and my passion for photography was becoming stale. At the workshop, I rediscovered who I am as a photographer and re-aligned myself back onto the path that is me, Helga Dalla aka Helgs.

We spent three days listening, talking and doing lots of exercises and various experiments. The message is that being a great artist comes from within. Everything we experience and see externally comes from us internally. But you can’t just turn around and be great overnight, in the same way that if you want to loose weight, you have to do it a little at a time, keep exercising, and you’ll get a bit closer each time. It’s the same with art, with who you are as a person.  It is work in progress. Learn to be a creator and to be good at not knowing. Be open to the journey and always wonder, see the magic everywhere, explore and be amazed everyday!

This 366 Day Project is a perfect way for me to pay attention to the things that move me, keeping the wonder and imagination alive.

I am here because I want to give those that don’t know me the ‘real’ authentic me.

I share the belief that we, as photojournalists have the ability to touch the world, one relationship at a time.

I hope you enjoy following my 366 Day Project as much as I the journey!
